Would you go with a Silver Flame or be looking for a tough multi blade head?
I feel that through bone the SF has the advantage. Through the Vitals there should be little difference in outcome. In the guts..........you're probably looking at a HAIRY situation either way...

Hey thanks for the thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He posted it for me, I am new here. I am going to Alaska in Sept to hunt Brown Bears. I shoot a Guardian with a 500grn carbontech rhino (that includes a 125grn tip).
I have had the hardest time picking a broadhead. Right now I am leaning twords the hellrazor, I like the idea of 3 blades and really strong. It is really tempting to go with the Silverflames but I am not sure about only having 2 blades. I have been around archery for a long time and seen a lot of the silverflame post and kills, it is really impressive. The pennetration would be awesome but not sure if the hellrazor would be a better blood trail and a quicker kill.
I would greatly appreciate any info that I could get on this.

I looked at the innerloc test and also their website. WOW they look great... I am kindof bummed out to be honest, now that is one more head that I have to rule out . Has anyone shot the 5 blade 125 grn head here? how do you guys think that it would do as far as pennetration on a big bear? I have read in ashby's reports that 5 blades pennetrate well but I may be off on this? Any help would be good. 5 blades would be awesome to push through a bear. J

Have to say, if I am going to trust life and limb to any one broadhead, there would be nothing but [glow=red,2,300] Silver Flames [/glow]in the quiver. There might be other good choices, but nothing with the build quality of a Flame. I've held broadheads from every major manufacturer, none seem close in the area of sharpness. Of course, they've also had real world testing against Africa's toughest animals. A Brown Bear hunt is, for most of us, a never or once-in-a-lifetime experience...cost of the broadhead should not even be a factor. Best of luck on your hunt!!!!

Take the one that flys where you point it???
I would rule out all low profile heads. The blade angle can be steep, and even sharp they don't seem to pass through as well. I shot a bull caribou this past September with a Turbo. Great tip, flies really well. The bull was less than 20 yards, hit him behind the SHOULDER CLEAN shot passthtough, but no energy left on it after doing so.The arrow only went maybe 20 yards beyond the exit point, shot again, same deal - niether one slipped right through to stick in something else. Silver Flame went through without much fuss at all. clean passthrough with impressive energy to spare. If the siver shoots well, evey time, I don't know that I'd take anything different along. If you've got tons of energy to spare and shoot a heavy arrow on a close shot, a 3 blade Muzzy would no doubt work well. They have delt with more than one elk. Make sure that they fly well out to your range before loading up... Although the arrow might not blast all the way through if it hits a bunch of bone.
I don't think much of the 5 blade tip. Got to be a handfull to shoot well and I'd worry about penetration - although that is just a gues. You want a tip that will penetrate the worst shot you might make - I believe that the SF would win that challenge. I don't think the blade would fold up if you hit a bone. Also, I doubt you would have unexpected results. Just make sure you get them to fly right, which has never seemed to tough to get SF's flying well. My bowtech set to 31 inch draw length, 70 pound draw weight, 500 or 550 grain arrow, shoots just under 300 fps., somthing like 297 fps. It hits where I point it and bucks the wind well (150 grain).
How heavy an arrow will you be shooting? 500 grain... I might consider 550 to 600 grains total.
Are you taking a rifle and someone to cover with it?
