I have never been bow hunting from the ground, on my July scout I noticed I had a few deer moving through my area I scouted a few times since then and have found the deer are still passing through my area. My problem is there are no trees worthy of a stand where the deer are coming through how successful do you think one could be hunting it from a make shift ground blind?

You could be very successful. make sure that you try and keep the wind in your favor and you limit movement. I have taken many deer off the ground and still hunt the ground when the location calls for it.

Thanks a ton man I will keep all this in mind. We only own about 10 acres but I have selected a few spots that I think I can fill a tag. Does anyone have any experiences bow hunting public land? I have never hunted public because it seems like there would 500,000 people there. Oklahoma has alot of public land I may try that to an alternative to the suburban woodlots I've been hunting.

Public land depends on the area surrounding it. In area's where there is lots of farmland and such the pressure is always reportedly light due in large part to the fact that many people are hunting private property that exists.
On the other hand....outside city limits gets hit hard due to the fact that it's the only game in town.
If there is alot of land you generally can hike in an hour and find nobody due to the fact that people (like deer) are generally lazy ;D

Hey Steve, What part of OK? I'm in Tulsa. I've hunted a few places on public land and never have seen anyone. There are a few places that are archery only. If you hunt during the week, I doubt you will see anyone. Let me know and I can direct you to some places.

I live in a suburb north of Edmond, sounds like I just need to go scout some of this public land!

I hunt from the ground all the time. To make a simple blind pick up a strip of camo bulap about 4'x12' to string in front of you and a comfortable chair to sit in. Trim out some limbs and back yourself into a tree, dig a flat spot for your chair and string the burlap in front of you. Has to be high enough to cover your hand movements but not so high as to get in the way of your bow, I bellow the front out with a stick or two to give a little manuvering room. I also wear Scent-Lok gear and a ghillie suit.
