Where I live (Virginia) Deer Season is just a little over a month away (five weeks to be exact).
All year I dream about being in the woods. When I am up in my treestand, I experience a peace that I cannot find anywhere else!
When I'm at work and all stressed out, I just take a moment, sit down and picture myself in my stand. Such a calming effect.
I don't even have to see deer (in my imagination or for real). It just calms me down.
This year my wife is expecting to deliver my new son on September 10th! and we are very excited! ( hopefully a future hunter!) Friends have already given him a bunch of camoflauge outfits! (They know me too well)
Almost Time, Almost Time.

I had to remove a part of your "message" because it didn't "apply".... , but DITTO to everything else. The first Saturday in October each year is a great time here in Virginia. I'll be 63 in October, and I'm just as excited about opener as I was 50 years ago....I'm just a "little" more calm about it now. I still climb trees in my "Tree Lounge", still "trapse" over the hills and through the valleys, across the fields and along the ridges....and to me, 95 % of it is "Just being out there with nature". The meat, the exercise and the sheer fun are ALL bonuses of "the hunters journeys"!

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEEN. Every once in a while I just push back and daydream a bit to relax. Then a buck comes out in my dreams and i end up running all around the field chasing him but never getting the shot I need. Brings me back and just as stressed as when I left for my hunting trip in my mind.
