Hunting set up only and compound only It seems that there is a never ending number of threads each year which converge on every site as to the need for arrows that weight _X_ amount. It's my contention that with todays equipment , X might as well be whatever works because whatever it is , it will pass through a deer. Of course , thats actually pushing the envelope somewhat but it's pretty close to the facts IMO Just want to get an idea of the averages out there so that when the question is asked again .... There will be an intelligent answer or at least a good ball park answer

I look forward to these poll results. I'm considering changing my hunting rig and would appreciate what the majority of the speed and arrow weights are.
Since I need new arrow anyway, I'm looking to go from a 422 gr. to 353 gr. arrow without making any other changes. The speed will flatten the sight plane, but will cost a little KE. I'm looking to shoot flatter help with yardage estimates.
I would appreciate your opinion.

The fact is that when you drop weight you gain speed which has as much relevance in the K.E. equation. For a good example of the effects of a heavy verses light arrow , go to Bojacksons site and see the evidence for yourself

Maxima 250s 27 1/4" 242gr. Can't be correct...did you include your broadhead weight? Either that or I am way off, because we shoot the same arrows.
