Well I for one am proud to know ya John. Your diligence is to be commended. I can only hope that under simialr circumstances I'll display the same patience and thoroughness you did. Now move on and get us some pics of a kill. Ditto!

I'm glad you got closure on your buck. This is the first deer, that I have shot that I'm pretty sure might be fatally wounded, that I didn't recover.... It really sucks!

That is what I would dwell on Right there you have given two doubts as to the mortality in one breath. I am a pretty hard grader my friend and I (if in your shoes) would be willing to concede to the fact that this deer will stand as good a chance of living as not. Just use the experience in a positive manner and it will have been worth it.
