Well not really. We stopped by the gas station in town after picking up my buddy. We got there and found out that in the 400yds it is from his house to the station we passed a bear and didn't see it. We missed it by seconds. We went back and saw a lady in her car pointing into a thicket where she saw the bear run. Now this area is a small thicket with houses and roads at all around it. We met the local P.D. and went in looking... ??where did it go. we looked up and down...all over. No luck. It must have slipped out the back while we were sitting on the other side of the brush. I really wanted to see it. We missed it by SECONDS!

I haven't heard this many bear stories coming out of Dutchess county in my 18 years of being a resident here.

I JUST developed that roll of film off of my trail cam - the one I was telling you guys about the other day - it was set up in Millbrook - Dutchess County - I got 2 pictures of bears. 1 bear rump walking past the cam, the other is a big momma, with 2 cubs in the background!
I was so excited, but know now I have to use caution with lottle ones out ther.

99 times out of a hundred {not sure if that is the exact avg. just making a point} the bear runs but that one time he/she don't and you'd be in a world of hurt . ere on the side of caution and pack some heat

I only saw cubs once in my life and there were three of them. So cute !....playing king of the hill on a log I was so captivated that I just walked right up on them...blinded by the wonder of it all. I was standing there about 5 or 6 feet away when one looked up and saw me BAWWWL !!!!!!! I shot up in the air about a foot and was fully turned the opposite way when my feet hit the ground ;D I ran perhaps nearly 3 miles before stopping and I wasn't even breathing hard (which was the weirdest thing of all) So there I was....lost in the middle of a logging area in Aroostook county Maine It was a very long time before I found my way out of that area and I never did go back ;D ;D

I walked out this morning and my bear target was on it's side. I went to stand it up thinking it just had fallen.............. it took all my strength to bend the rod back to get him upright. upon further investigation I found 4 distinct bite marks on it. something with canine teeth and enough power to "scrunch" the foam on either sid of th bite. My neighbors about 1/2 mile down the road gave me permission to hunt and said they see 2 cubs and a mother once a week or so. their neighbor confirmed this too. so, i believe I had a bear in my yard last night and he tried to make friends with my target.
