Phase one for the Hunt get together

Hey BT, how many pounds draw weight needed to harvest a pig, or KE, my son shoots bow but is only 40# and 21# KE, would this be enough for a hog hunt, he is shooting 85GR slick tricks, please let me know

My son smoked a bunch of bacon with a 40# bow using Magnus Stinger heads.

I would however suggest a stand or pop up blind rather than stalking for him since range is a consideration as it pertains to dropping K.E. as the distance increases.

Shootable pigs are going to be hard to get close to and shots will most likely be 25-30yrds. or more.

I always set my son up to shoot 20yrds. to insure success although I believe 25 may have been possible on some of these occasions.

A stand also provides a good opportunity for the perfect quartering in shot behind the ribs where penetration is going to be far less of an issue.

I will be doing a penetration test during the summer shootout and you will get a better opportunity to select a head based on this test at that time.

Only the passing heads will be competing so the standards will already be in place

Well that makes another 1, , my kid says hes in for the hunt too , hopefully by the time we do go for a pig he will be pullin my 54# reflex , that bow has 46# KE and that 1 I know will put a pig down , So I got 2 people comin and if I can get Tedicast to come that would make 3

Always a possibilty. But Venus would have to line up with Pluto, Tuesdays would have to become Thursdays, and the Lotto would have to be won by yours truly!!

Tell them about it and maybe they could work during the summer to make up the diffrence

Alright it's a solid 6 on this post and I believe there are 3 more that have not replied to this post but have told me personally and from the Hunting Lodge We might be able to count on three or four more.

Thats a fair number right there so star dropping those coins in the piggy bank every day and I will get ahold of Andy at The Preserve to see what kind of long term plans he can fore see.
