Groundhogs are about it for the summer off season hunts here in the northeast but they can offer a bonus in two ways. First of all , you get a chance to get out and enjoy the warm sun and fresh field air. Secondly , you can make this an opportunity to gain access for prime deer hunting land No one likes ground hogs in the farming business that I ever met and to get permission to hunt them with a bow is about as easy an o.k. as your likely to get a crack at. While you hunt these farmland fields this is the chance to show who you are by dropping in with something fresh baked or brewed at the beginning of the day before heading into the field. Offering to do something in lines of a repair that you may have noticed such as a downed fence, ect. goes a long way as well When season comes along you will be better positioned to get access to the deer and your groundhog hunts will have prepared you for success

Good point BT, I am atree cutter so I am constantly cutting up trees and moving branches off the propertys I hunt. The people love it and it doesnt cost them anything except some ink from there pen to sign my permission slip to hunt the area, it saves them alot of $$$$$$$ and I can kill all the deer and yotes I want up there,
