At least why I never know where the kill area is Here are some pics to show location of kill area within the feathers. You really have to look for the outline in the Picture but it is there and I will try to fix that up later if I can get back to it

My best tip is to shoot them "a little high in the middle" as they are facing away from you. You'll take out the vitals and a good chance of the spine too. It's a much better shot than broadside. When broadside(especialy in strut) it's really hard to know exactly where to shoot. The walking away shot gives you a smaller area to aim at in the first place(so the vitals take up more of it). If you hit high or low, still a good chance at clipping the spine.If he is in strut, just aim for the "bullseye".

I would have to agree that in principal you would have to be taking the highest percentage shot from the rear.....litterally!
