They were out this morning in my yard and I could not get a good bead on them. Ran to town to do some errands and back back to find them napping on my driveway. I had to drive through them to get into the garage, but by the time I had my bow, they had moved over through the woods to my neighbors yard.
Pesky taunters.

One lady near my home has to KICK them away from her bird feeders. I walk in on one field every time to get to one of my stands, and the birds are passing me the other way within 50 feet much of the time. Pretty soon I am gonna start tossing crackers until they follow me. HEHEHEH...then when they are all stuffed, all I gotta do is cook 'em.

Pretty soon they will be like the geese around here. No one will be interested in them , they will become a nuisance and some government official will have to spend 100K to get them out of the parks

Wife has to chase the turkeys around the yard and called me at 3:30. I got out at 4:30 (told myself to go home, useful being a Manager). As soon as I drove in, they took towards the woods.
Grabbed the bow, forgot the range finder. Missed short. Guessed 25 yds and was 29 (verified later by rangefinder).
"They task me. They task me and I shall have them."

Yea, the challenging part of fall turkeys is that they dont really respond to calling. So you have to stalk them, or get out in front of them. And in doing so, your terrain keeps changing. At least in a stand, you can range or pace out most of your shooting lanes and have some idea of the ranges. The turkeys mix it up and make it very challenging around here. Good practice for my ranging (or lack thereof).

Find an apple orchard, and do double duty. The birds will eat the fallen apples before late afternoon, so plug your bird, and go get him after you climb down to bloodtrail your buck who is also stuffed with apples!
