It is a bunch of fun. I put on a pheasant each year and we get about 30 guys that turn out. Bows in the morning, lunch at mid day and a shotgun option in the afternoon. We are getting better. We took 14 birds with the bows last year. I haven't been able to arrow one myself. Still trying!

Vonottoexsperience suggested this last summer/fall but we never followed through. I'd like to see that done with a compound

That camera guy is evil, but funny.

I think it could be done with a compound, just as easily as trad gear. especially if shooting instictive. You'd be able to be at full draw and ready, when the bird flushes

I would bet against it myself skip. The compounds excessive speed does not allow the brain to catalog the information as precisely as the slower recurve , nor does the style of anchor (that is typical with the compound) allow the cant of the recurve which opens the window of sight , allowing the shooter to see the path of flight. Therefore the judgment of known lead would be harder. That being said.... imagine flu flu's off a drop away or whisker biscuit

Looked like the camera man was going to taste some buckshot for a moment there. If you missed with the compound, you'd probably never see that arrow again!

I was thinking more along the lines of shooting the bird after it leveled off and was flying directly away. I used to shoot a lot of clay pidgeons with my .22, and got to about 3 out of 5 average.......if I git them as the leveled off, flying straight away(there was a big hill as a backstop, so it was safe)
