I still like 5 as my choice. If I am high I break the birds back, if I am low then I will be at the 6 position anyway and if I hit at 5 then the bird is dead. If I hit to far to the left I take out the neck and to far right then I am in the 9 spot. I feel that 5 gives more room for error then the rest IMO.

It certainly got me thinking. I have always wanted to go after turkeys, but as of yet, have not taken the time to do so. (Read as work, kids, and so on) I have always looked and kind of wondered just where the arrow needs to go - so this one is pretty interesting to me. I guess I kind of like right between 5 and 6. Although, I have no idea just how much feather fluff there is on the back of a turkey, so maybe favor 6 over 5? I mean, that bird is in full fluff while the bones has zero fluff! Fluffless, if you will! Does that make a difference?

to me the kill zone shown for turkeys is higher and farther forward than I would "expect". Just looking at the bird I want to shoot 'em lower and farther back. (I also have never shot one, but have applied for a tag again this year ) The instruction I remember for shot placement (someone correct any error please ) is on a frontal aim for where the beard connects and on broadside aim for where the wings connect, on a fan shot shoot 'em in the brown eye. With those pieces of info I drew an imaginary X thru the vitals front to back and side to side and aimed for the center of that.

I shot 3 turkeys last spring ,my shot placement was just in front of 10 towards 9 ,two of the 3 dropped right there ,,one went up in the air hit a limb fell to the ground and flopped around and expired . I look for the wing joint i feel if you wack them in the wing they cant fly . Another great placement is in the anal you get the spine they are toast... ;D ;D

I've bowhunted turkey once (or so), and this is where I'd aim on this one.

thanks for the pics buckshot those were most helpfull ... Interesting how much fluff there is ... smj we need our birds unfluffed, plucked and wrapped. If the bird was dead broadside I would take 10; however because of the quartering angle things change and 6 looks better ... like you snood I have been leaning towards the backside of 6 too. snoodslapper - that is a turkey term I'm thinkin' - maybe you shot 2?
