I have always went for the chest. The kill zone is about the size of a baseball but not impossible to hit. If you go with something like the Gobbler Guillotine the head and neck region will dispatch a turkey very quickly. I ask this because I just read an article were a guy swears by shooting at the thigh leg region of a turkey and says it has practically eliminated wounded turkeys for him. Its a large target and easily identifiable through all those feathers. He states that when a turkey is shot in the legs. One, you may hit the large artery running through them dispatching it quickly. Two, you break its legs so it can't run away. Three, it can't fly due to the fact it can't launch its self off the ground. So I was just wondering if anyone ever even uses this as a possible shot placement. Sounds like it maybe a good choice.

I've always tried to shoot them in the middle when they are broadside. In the fall out of a tree stand if you can get them going away and break their back also seems to work very well.

I'm not sure that I would intentionally aim for the legs, but I'll take it if it happens. I usually take aim at the wingbutt, but I've only gotten one turkey with the bow, so I'll take any advice from people that have more experience.

I want to try this year with those magnus broadheads and take head shots... With regular broadheads chest shots would be my guess ........

After reading this article he made some good points about aiming for the legs. I never even considered it a spot for shot placement. I never heard of someone using this as their first choice for dispatching a turkey. If it worked for him for 15+ years who am I to argue.

I would opt for the Texas heart shot. agree with this guys thinking for a few reasons....first of all, less deadly wounds. Like he says, if you hit 'em, you got 'em and if you dont.....it flies away unharmed

Chest unless I have a Bullhead/Guillotine. I'll try and pull up a post of where I aim and why in a bit, but my favorite shot is facing straight away.
