Well, I am taking the recurve now. No way I am getting stuck in the thick with a tusker like this!.
I went out today....first time in over a month that I have had an hour to shoot. The 70# Mamba was shooting great for me. Took three warm up shots and then went out on the course with only one miss. If I have a few days prior to the hunt, I will be taking the recurve and using the compound only as a back up.

Geeeezzz, now I gotta learn speed shooting? I would be more than happy to go toe to toe with that rogue hog. 20ft up in a treestand, that is.

They have platform stands that are low to the ground as well as a couple of ground blinds but you guys have to experience a marsh bear up close and personal to appreciate them

I'm really excited for you all being able to do this hog hunt. I sure wish I could be with you all..... it will be the first I have missed in a while. I hope you all get psyched up and have a great time. Kris and I have had some great times with those "pork chops with legs". I haven't had time to be here on the computer much the past few months. So much going on in other areas. (family things, fishing, boating and a ton of work on vehicles). We have three in all and it seems that SOMETHING is always going wrong with one of them. I'm now trying to get settled in to the fact that bow season is only about 3 1/2 months away here and will be time for all my huntings area "tending" soon. Scouting, trimming and organizing and "trail camera experiments". Anway, just know that I would love to be there with you all this time, but it's just not "in the stars" for me this time. Maybe next year! Just keep in mind that those "piggys" can be nasty and stay on guard. Just ask BT...they don't always "go after" the one that shoots them!!
