Great photos Mike...and a good recount of the hunt. Congrats to everyone. Those are some great looking hogs! I guess you got an idea of how tough they can be! ;D It sounds like you all had a great time, and I'm glad to know everone make it back safe and that there were no injuries on the hunt except to the hogs!! I'd have loved to have been there but as the others are saying, hopefully next year! AWESOME!!!

Day 1
we all arrived as BT said before and were soon in the hunting area looking for hogs. Doegirl and David headed to a stand with Mark and most of the crew headed toward the swamp. Randy and I decided to work our way along the other side of the property. It took us a bit to see any pigs but after 30 minutes or so we saw a few and shortly after we saw 2 nice hogs. they knew we were there and were staying just ahead of us. i probably could have cirlcled ahead of them and set up for a shot, but they were headed for Doegirls stand, so we decide to let them keep going, hoping she or David would get a shot. I split away from Randy and met back up with him and Frank a few minutes later. Randy had seen Doegirl shoot one of the pigs we pushed and Frank said they had seen a Hog with BT's arrow in it. Ray had shot at that one but they thought the shot went low. we decide to help follow the bloodtrail from Doegirls hog. The blood trail was not heavy but it was steady. David was amazing at picking out tinly spots of blood on the tall wet grass. Mark, Frank and Doegirl moved out ahead of where the trail was headed and Randy, David and I stayed with the blood. The hope was that if we bumped the hog out of the bed one of them would be able to get another arrow in it. After a while on the trail the most of the crew met up and decided to split up and push the swamp looking for either BT's or Doegirls hog. we pushed that area with no sign of either and kept working around that side of the property and around the field. when i met up with the group on the other side we found Spiker near a treestand at the intersection of 2 trails and he said he had hit one. with most of the crew on that blood Randy and I went to the back of the property looking for the wounded hogs or maybe one of our own. Randy and i encountered a group of hogs right away and made a play to approach from different sides hoping we could see one of the hit hogs. The hogs gave us the slip and I looked down the trail to see Frank waving me over. He said he just dropped and hog that was coming toward him woofing and snorting. It was a steep quartering toward shot and the pig ran 30yds before crashing. He also said he saw a "Volkswagon" in a mud hole. We made a stalk on a big pig but as we approached 25yds the pig got up snorted at us and bolted into the thick under brush. At this point Mark and Randy were together and met up with us. Mark wanted us to start pushing all the heavy stuff in search of the 3 pigs that were hit. At this point I decided to shoot any hog that fit the descripion of any of the hit hogs if i was presented to a good shot. If it was one of them great, if not I would get my hog out of the deal. If I knew it was hit I would get an arrow in it, period. I was easing through the brush on the group push and saw a hog in a "boars nest" about 18yds ahead of me. I dropped to one knee and the hog stood, offering a shot through a small hole in the brush. The shrew came to full draw and sent a Phat head tipped arrow through the lungs of the big hog. The hog burst from it's bed and stopped in the brush at 30yds, the second arrow was on it's way and lodged in the pigs shoulder. She spun around and started to stagger. I wanted her to fall away from me and not break my arrows, so i ran in to kick her over but she spun, squared off to me and took a few fast steps in my direction, I jumped back and she fell.....on my arrows. It turned out to be the mean pig we were warned of, the one spiker shot and the "Volkswagon" Frank and I saw.
we kept on moving through and set up to push the last thick area. Mark was directly to my right and ray was to the left. I'm not sure where everyone else was exactly but Frank was guarding the road above us and Spiker and Doegirl were in a ground blind guarding the trails intersection. Shortly into the drive we bumped 2 hogs out, one was bleeding and was doegirls. It ran through with no one able to shoot. a few minutes later Mark yelled "wounded pig" as a big boar broke into a clearing in front of me at full speed, blood on it's side. I brought the shrew to full draw and swung on it, releaeing the arrow in front of it's nose........catching it just in front of the hind quarters. The boar squeeled and ran into the road AT Frank. The boar made it through the ranks but was bleeding good now. we all split up and I followed the bloodtrail from BT's hog, i had just hit. Halfway up the hill Doegirls hog jumped up in front of BT and he shot, defelting off the brush and catching it in the hind end. I continued on the trail I was on and a few minutes later we here Randy's .45 bark and some squeeling. Doegirls hog, toting BT's arrow, stopped in front of him at 45yds and he put a spitfire through it's chest. he ran in after it and it was standing in the brush looking like it was gonna bolt, he shot it in the neck with his .45 at 15 yds or so, to put it down for good.
I was still on the trail of BT's hog with Spiker and BT, I belive Doegirl helped for a bit, but so much is a blur.... we lost the trail just before dark and had time for one last push as half the crew called it an evening and went to take care of the down hogs. We saw some good hogs on that push but none were BT's.
we left the hunting area for the evening in the dark and very tired, wet and sore.
