Anyone ever taken a water buffalo? I ask for a few reasons. I reviewed the virtual hunt on Bowsite and Pat LeFemme used a 1000 grain arrow and 93#'s of pull weight. I am slightly perplexed by this in the fact that a chart from that exact same site referenced > 65 lbs for dangerous game. According to the numbers he was cranking out about 89+ lbs of KE @ 1000grains 201 fps. Reviewing there body structure these animals are definitely made to survive. With overlapping rib bones protecting the rear of the chest cavity, making a quarter away shot almost impossible. Just interested to see how many have tackled this beast with a bow.

DD Ranch just 2hrs away from me was offering up water buffs at $950 a piece. My s*&%$'s not wired tight enough yet to be chasing those beasts.

I just read a story in I think it was bowhunting world of a lady taking the one in Australia with a 70 lb Long bow. She was the first woman to ever take one with a bow of any kind.
Would love to some day along with a Cape Buffalo.

Minimum is 85# K.E. with a 800 grain shaft However.....This is an excepted standard and by no means an absolute. Look at the stick bows that are dropping these beasts.

A buddy of mine shot a buff in Australia with a heavy arrow and a recurve. He and said he shot the buff and it looked at him and said "Now you die... " If not for the large termite hills, he would have been dead. He climbed on one and the buff could not get to him. The guide, who carried a rifle that shot small mortar rounds, put the buff down for good. It was an interesting few minutes, and who'd have thought a chubby old retired guy could climb a termite mound like that...

If I shot an animal that large and missed by that much, I would burn the evidence and the bow. Geeez!
