I have a big coyote that is hanging around at my son's house. I ran into him turkey hunting but as he sat looking at my decoys I had no bow shot. Now he is bold enough to walk through the back yard during the day time with my son's two dogs in the yard.He has a little Terrier that is about 10 pounds but 7 pounds of that is BALLS ;D.His other 9 month Golden will tuck his tail and run while the Terrier follows the coyote.Last week the nebhors goat on a rope (chain) ;D got killed. They put it in a wood shead but somthing dragged it out and started eating it again .Of course they all think it was a mountain lion ;D I was over there Wednesday running my backhoe at 3:00 and my son saw him as he was on his tractor. He got me out of the backhoe carrying two rifles and we made an attempt to get him but I knew it was a waste of time.If you don't have a gun with you when you see him your out of luck.He is crapping all over on logging roads by my food plots. And I think there are does with fawns in the area.I'm going to try and get him this week with my 7 MM.He needs to be removed!!!

I don't know if you have a season or not for coyotes where you're at. We can hunt and trap coyotes year round in Ohio. Try a rodent sqealer or you can actually use a turkey diaphram call to make similar sqealing sounds. This time of year they should come running to pup in distress sounds . Good Luck!

It's different calling this time of year. Distress calls have the potential to be effective but may not be the best right now. They always have to eat and coyotes, like anything else, will react to more than one calling method at any time of year, but, certain times of the year are better for certain kinds of calling. Spring is denning time and they can be difficult to call. They seen to come into my turkey calling though. Pup distress and howling calls early in the morning and at dusk may be your best bets. That's what we would be mostly successful with in western KS when the season started winding down toward turkey season anyway.

Nothing like a good GUT pile ... calls work for sure, but they like a nice pile.

Sometimes they'll come to a pile of carp if you like to bowfish.
