Apparently New York is going to experiment with the XB in the 2011 season. I think they can only used them in the firearm season and late deer season. At least it is a start. Ghost

Arrow like bolt......come on Spiker the arrows I shoot are exactly like yours. Same carbon material, same plastic vanes, and same points. The only difference is mine are shorter. Many compound vertical bow shooters are going for arrows is excess of 400 grains. This is heaver than my crossbow arrows. Bolts were made of metal, blunt on one end and a hammered point on the other. There only purpose was to punch through the armor of a mounted knight. Ghost

No matter how you look at it this legislation does nothing to get an older or disabled hunter back in to the woods during archery season and IMO i think that it really misses the mark in that respect. I disabled and live in western Mass and I would probably hunt New York during the archery season if I could use a crossbow. Bob

Spiker, I saw your reply on the news sight. You stated that it has a scope like a rifle.....You will have to search, but we sell a Horton crossbow at the store I work at and it comes with a peep sight a pin, just like a compound. It isnt even a "newer" pin with fiber optics. It a metal one with a painted ball on the end.....lol.

Crossbows have scopes but can be set up with pin sights. Many XB shooters are older individuals with poor eye sight and the scope reduces the change of a poor hit.
Crossbows are easy to shoot but hard to hunt and a scope is not a substitute for lack of hunting skill.
