WoW, no posts in a month,What.... no stickbow shooters this year?.......I just got back to shooting after a month of neck problems, I shot 18 arrows then the next day(sat) went to the hoosier classic and shot a 657 out of 800 on the big game, won the long distance shoot and the night time coon shoot too, and I shot an Tradtech Black Onyx ILF recurve, 60"-61#@30, this is the first recurve I've found that I can actually shoot without the vibration killing me, all set up for hunting now though, 32" Mfx 500's, 125gr. G5-B52's for a total arrow weight of 480gr. should be plenty for some whitetail shooting....What's your setups?....Hello....Hello...anybody out there?,lol,lol.......

Nope. Nobody here at all anymore...
I have been out for a total of 11 days so far this season. The only thing to shoot at for me was a mule deer doe, at about 40 yards, about 1 hour after sunset... Which is about 30 minutes past legal shooting time here in Colorado. I let her live. Eventually I'll post about it, but so far it has been a lot of work with nothing, and I mean nothing, to show for it. Spare time - in the woods. When not in the woods, at work trying to get enough done so that I can be in the woods for another 4 day weekend. Just no time for anything else. As for stick bow this season, so far it don't matter one bit which bow I carry. The game hides from anything I pull out for the day.

Wow smj, sorry to hear that, it happened to me last year, I never even got to tighten a string, hope this year is different, but I've yet to see a deer anywhere in my area this year, and I mean for the whole year, never even saw a track, all the old trails are overgrown, deer seemed to have dissapeared..............

Well sir, my season is a bit different than that... We scouted all of these spots earlier in the year, a month or so prior to season. We found elk, bulls and cows, and deer in numbers enough to peek our interest. Once the season started - everywhere we go it has been the same story - nothing there anymore. It is as if they have all moved to a new zip code. I think the issue is one of water. Usually during hunting season there is rain every day in the afternoon. Some times, snow, once in a while a whole lot of snow if you are up to high. This year, not one day of rain on us or snow on us yet. The trees are just starting to turn colors. I am trying to figure out where to try next, and see if I can't turn something up. Of course, with deer I am stuck in a single unit. All deer tags are draw only now, there are no over-the-counter deer tags left in Colorado... So that does tend to limit where I can go and where I can hunt. Anyway - I got 4 more days coming up, we'll see what happens I guess. We have had a bunch of fires out here as well. The "4 mile canyon" fire burned up one of the clubs I belong to. We won't find out what is left until tomorrow, most of it burned though. Our house was in no danger, but we could see the flames from our livingroom window at night. The question for the range is if enough targets made it through so that we might shift things around and maybe keep part of the range open. Find out tomorrow. Here is a link to the range web pages if interested: www.gamelinesarchery.com/

Wow, Awesome range you fellas have there, sure glad to hear the fire didn't wipe it out, and wipe you out too, I'm still hoping to make it out one of these years Steve, but i want to be in much better shape than I am now, I've been working at it , but I didn't get this way overnight and it will take a bit longer, but it's given me something to look forward to, and if you ever want to come to Indiana to hunt, your welcome to come hunt with me anytime, you can stay here at my place......Good luck this season, I'm outta here for the next 10 days due to my car show duties, so have fun and don't get lost,lol,lol.....

I have been out hunting for the last three weeks. Did not get to draw the long bow on anything. A few times I thought I was going to get a shot but none of them worked out. I ended up getting a little moose with the rifle at the end of moose season so I could put some meat in the freezer. Going to try to catch up to a black bear now.

Well,I've been out twice now, no shot opportunities, but did see 4, 3 does and a buck, my brother shot a buck opening day about 100yds from our truck, shot was high, and not a pass through, which really suprises me as he is using my old high country and it's 90#'sat 30" and he's shooting a 500gr. arrow, should have blown right through, but didn't and blood was spotty, we tracked it for about 3/4 of a mile before we lost light and decided to give it till morning before we resumed the search, morning brought steady rains, and although we searched in direction of travel and grid patterns, we couldn't find anything......and I must add that this worries me a bit in regards to my longbows penetration ability, hopefully when the time comes, correct shot placement will make all the difference.......we shall see.

I feel for ya Spiker, it was like that for me last year, but this year should be a bit different, we've only hunted public ground so far this year and have not seen anyone near where we hunt, so it seems we have it all to ourselves, then my friend Rob called me yesterday, and wanted to know if I was going to hunt his private hunting camp this year, he quit bowhunting, his boys are in college, and I'm the ony one he allows to hunt there as we've been the last 4 years grooming this into a deer mecca, he said he's seen more deer there now than ever.......120+ acres all to myself............hell yes I'm hunting there..... and soon I'll be heading down 180 mi. to southern Indiana to another friends who along with his brother owns 500 acres in one of the best deer counties in Indiana, and only 3 people besides myself have hunted there in almost 50 years, and none of them are bowhunters.....and I can camp while hunting too, something that I've never done, but always wanted to, but I may just wait till the rut gets a bit closer, I've never been an antler hunter, but everyone needs a chance at a wallhanger at least once, and this may be my best bet although it would be hard to beat the monster18 pointer with double drops I've been seeing at Rob's.....I've had 2 perfect shot opportunities but passed so his boys would have a chance to take him, but they quit hunting for now, so it looks to be a very promising year in the woods........Just hang in there Spiker, things will get better......
