Wing?

I've been shooting my first bow that I bought 3 years ago and getting fairly good with it. Enought that I'm confident enought to hunt with. This spring I bought an older wing bow and just can't get within the the range that I"m comfortable hunting with. I'll stick with my first bow for this fall. My ? is why? must be form, but do things change that much from bow to bow? is it the hand grip or?? The looks of the wing I love and would like to use but I can't hit anything good enough. Do other people find a change of bows make that much difference or is it just me??? It really is upsetting me that it just don't work for me. What is your opinion?

If you can post a picture of both bows, might be able to offer some insight. I have a number of bows that require different hand positions and such, so the fact that you are having issues isn't too surprising. It could also be a function of an inner defect in the bow itself.
Best thing to do is to start at the beginning and do a visual.

Just can't seem to make friends with the Wing? It is very common to find one shoots great for one person - and not so great with another. There are a lot of factors that go into the design of a bow, change any of those factors and the bow will shoot differently. SO - my first question is what is the difference in tip to tip length? Then, what is the difference in draw weight? Then, are they both center-shot bows, or is there a difference between them? Then, are the grips exactly the same, or different? Even a little difference can require a form change to switch between the two. Next, how different are the arrow rests? Maybe one bow shoots clean and the other bumps the arrow? If the draw weight is the same, do you draw them to the same length? If not, maybe due to a grip difference, then you won't have the same energy on the arrow when you release... How is hand shock between the two bows? Does one thump you and the other not? Is the brace height the same on both bows, or different? That will also change the amount of energy on the arrow. Do both bows cast and nice clean arrow? Free of side to side motion?
I know that's a few questions in a row, but season is getting here and if I can help, we need to get on it! Let me know what details you can, and we'll see if we can track this down.
Understand though, some bows are not kind to every shooter. It could be that there is something in your form that this bow does not like - you'd have to change if so...
Anyway, there is a bit to think about... By all means, give the bow a careful going over, draw both and look in a mirror to make sure the limbs flex OK, too.
Pay attention to arrow flight, it could be the quickest indicator of what might be wrong, or just different, between the two bows.

You make any headway with your bow? Any further input? Akdd is to ask about spine and nock position - It was to be in my next round of questioning...

Getting a bit better, gave it a littel more brace am at 8 3/4 and moved the nock slightly. I belive that I was choking on my grip and not loose enough. Don't notice any hand shock, actually less than my Dunarco. I belive that it is coming together for me now. Don't know if it makes any dif. but there is only 2 lbs. between the two bows. Am surprised that it has to be handled more gently than my first bow would not have though that there would be much dif between one bow to another. Also there is alot more recuvre to the Wing than the other one could this help make it more sensitive? IJ'll still use my other bow this fall as it is the one I'm more confident with, just like the looks of the ThunderBird Wing more. It will all come with practice but will use the Dunarco because of being more used to it and will not hpefully make an error while under pressure hunting.

More recurve can shoot a lot differently than a bow with no recurve. Add that difference and also a 2 lb change - yeah, I am not to surprised that you are finding that these bows are not shooting the same.
I agree with shooting the bow that you are most comfortable with, and have best accuracy, for hunting. Good call !
