Montana Elk Hunt Down The Tubes

My outfitter called me today and informed me that Montana decided to make the archery elk permit which was $17.00 a lottery that my cousin and myself didn't get. After a year and a half of planning and paying almost $1300.00 for an outfitter guarantee combo tag i find out less than two months from my hunt I can't kill an elk. This is BS it's screwing the hunters and outfitters my guide is losing excess of $40,000.00 because hunters didn't get drawn for a $17.00 permit. Why even offer the guarantee tag if your gonna turn and screw the people who forked out the money for it. I'm by no means rich I worked my but off to pay for this hunt for a year and a half and find this out today. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth for Montana. Greg I hope you got drawn for this I'm curious if you did.

That's really bad news NKYBUCK I know you was looking forward to this hunt.

If it was a guarantee combo tag you should be able to get your $$$$$ back if this is a good outfitter.

I know you found out but are you looking to change your plans and try for another hunt somewhere else.

Elk is out of the question at this point I believe but I can still go out and deer hunt which is probably what I will do. The outfitter offered me a deal on this. I don't know if my cousin will go.

Iam sorry I know you where looking forward to this. Any other species they could swith you to. I ask mainly because you got a good thing as far as deer in Kentucky.

The only other thing my tag was good for was pronghorn and the draw is over for them. I'll go out and try to take a nice mulie.

Mad was an understatement of how I felt at first but I always try to make the best of things so I figured why flush all that planning down the tubes. I'm still gonna get to go on an awesome hunt just not for elk.
