Don't let the facts get in your way my man! Offer to let them shoot it when they are over and show them how. If you are not a great instructor then I will be happy to send you a DVD for instruction. (got to give for the good of the youngsters I say ) If you instruct them like I show on the DVD you will have them hitting a bulls eye in an hour or less Once they do they are gonna want to do it more often. When they hit the bulls eye a couple of times suggest trying something else like hitting a swinging water balloon. (used to love doing that when I was younger) Just tie a string to a tree limb too tie the balloon to and put a back stop behind it. Make it hard and when they do manage to hit it , the fact that they accomplished the feat will feed the need to do it again Trust me....you have to be a real loser to not want to excel at something you know you can do better HECK!......even my kids get into it once they start and they are burnt out from having me as a father ;D

I have made my nocks at a half inch from the tip of the limb many times. You want to make sure that your limb width right where you cut the nock is a full 1/2 inch wide. So, although I see you glued them on already, if you don't have a half inch of limb where you need to place them, then you would have needed to shorten the limb until you got the 1/2 inch required or keep the nock overlays nice and thick and you should be OK as well! You just want to be sure that the nocks don't break off on you.
Your pals like war games, eh? You realize that low draw weight bows with over-sized round tiped arrows were around a long time before paint guns came into being! I used to know a bunch who used light draw weight bows and light arrows with flu-flu's and beanbag/foam type tips all the time, they hunted each other. Heavy over coat, face shield and helmet. Leave the compound at home!

BT, how much is the DVD. When I send my members forum stuff I will send for that aswell. I would be happy to pay for it. smj, the nock overlays are much wider then the tip. The tip is a molecule under 1/2 an inch. So they make tip look small. I will see if I can get them to play. Thats funny. First I will need low weight bows, oh darn I have to make more . On the subject my dad grew up in a town the he describes as being filled with a bunch of zeroes. He knew of people that would shoot eachother at 50 yards with shotguns, while wearing very heavy leather jackets. yikes nothing like natural selection

$16. The tape is multi faceted with shooting tips/tuning and more. Haven't had a complaint yet so I guess it is O.K.

BT I will send the money once I get the chance.
Well since rowing started I havent had much time. But now its cold so practice is cancelled except for running 3 or 4 miles which isnt time consuming
Just shaped the nocks and they are going to have a funny shape lol. My overlays kinda screwed things up. Oh well, thats why these are practice bows. No pics because camera has been acting up since I went skiing last.
SMJ, I have been eyeing my osage core because I am itching to get started on it. I realized it is different dimmensions then the average 1x2x6. Its really 1 inch thick not .75. and 1.75 inches wide. My question, can I rip that in half with a bandsaw and get two bows out of it and still get 45#?
I thought maybe I could do that. Then I could back one with hickory to sort of get used to tillering r/d then I could do one with boo. Maybe at 1/2 an inch I would add some fast flex boo to make pounds go up? Is this a good plan or should I not toy with the idea.

I have a new source, for me anyway, for bamboo. I am waiting for the order to come in to review what they sent me. If it looks good, I will post the details here. The cool part of this is that they sent me thinned bamboo backing for $12.50 each. This is a good price from what I've seen. I'll let you know as soon as I know for sure!

Ok I got stupid camera working. Turns out it was a battery problem, oops I think about things too hard ;D . Here are the nocks, look kinda funny eh? I dont think I am going to shape them just because I think it could ruin the function. There isnt any way to shape them that woulndt put their string holdong ability in jeopardy. Now for the tiller. Its actually looking pretty good to me. Yeah sure its really early with a long string but none the less I think its got some nice curve. So far..... well right limb bends more then left. I am still happy though My new work space. I set a board across parts of two others to make it so I could work on both sides of bow without having to flip the bow around. Should make tillering easier.
