;D Got my OPD'S screwed up. I have mild COPD-Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease along with acute Vasculitis beginning of osteoporosis and a bunch of other crap ;D.Like I say it's tough getting old.I have bene on Prednisone since 1991 after biopsy's showed my immune system was attacking my vascular system. The long use of Prednisone doe's a number on your bones. So you take fosomax that helps your bones but screws up your stomach ;D.It's a slippery slope once you start. I think the lung problems are from bead blasting guns with out a cabinet in the past.I have on a mask now when I work.I still can get up and down the hills ok. My goal is to die in a tree stand at 83 with a big buck on the ground. ;D

Well I put 2 more does down tonight with the Katera and Spitfires! I had 10 on the hill in front of me and heading my way towards a break in the wall 25yds out. i was watching them when I looked at the break in the stone wall and there were 3 deer heading through it. the first one was the biggest and she came through it and headed to a water hole 20yds away from me. She turned broadside and I put a spitfire though her heart. she bolted straight ahead with one of the little ones in tow. I grabbed another arrow and watched as all the deer on the hill ran away as well. There was still one smaller doe heading for the wall. I was getting ready to shoot her when 3 more deer came out of the thicket behind her. One was a big doe and I had her at 36yds. i was witing to see what else was behind her as more deer filed out of the thicket. the wind was swirling and one of the does caught my scent and started to turn to leave. as she did the one at 36yds looked back at her and I knew it was now or never. i shot her as she turned to leave and she only made it 39yds before falling over. All in all I saw 18 does and got down to deal with the 2 I shot with 45 minutes left of shooting light. It's not as much fun as the longbow, but it feels good to be putting meat on the table for people who need it.

I went out this afternoon and as I was getting out of my truck, the landowner came out to talk for a bit. He asked me where all the deer have been, because he hasn't seen many. I told him that last night i saw 18 deer and killed 2 just 2 houses down from him but that the deer were hanging out on the property that runs behind their houses. No one has permission to hunt there and it's easy to watch deer, just harder to get them onto the right property. He told me that he has permission to hike that property and he was thinking about taking a walk before the snow started. He said he would plan his route so that if he bumped any deer they would hopefully come my way. He asked if that was OK........hell yeah thats ok!
Well after about an hour on stand I looked about 250yds out and saw him headed my way. I grabbed my bow and got ready. I saw a nice 8pt with a limp heading through the brush but 100yds out and moving parellel to me. I realized that this was the 8pt that Ray shot low on last year and broke his right front leg. I watched him until he vanished into some heavy brush and I couldn't see the landowner either. I knew if he cam right out me the deer would go the other way, but if he took the upper trail I might be in luck. well sure enough the buck came into an opening at 50yds and was headed my way. He trotted onto the property I was hunting and as he passed at 20yds I "bleated" at him. He stopped with most of his vitals behind a tree, but the very front of his chest was just showing. I touched off and sent a spitfire through his heart. He bolted 20yds, tipped over and rolled 20yds down towards the truck! The landowner showed up 30 seconds later and I waved him over. He was pumped for me and that he played a big part in taking this buck. The buck is 3.5 and was pretty darn heavy. I haven't thrown a tape to him but should be about 19" inside spread and go between 115" and 120". I was pumped as this buck had been on the "hit list" since we saw him in the summer. Ray was very excited as he was really hoping someone would get him to complete the story. I was also excited to be able to put another deer on the meat rack for our friends. Thats 4 for them this week.
