I am wanting to get into traditional archery and would like some information on the pros and cons of each. Does anybody have a good link or article that compairs both? What has been your experiences with each? Where should I look for a bow that won't break the bank to see if I am really commited to this. Thanks for the information.

You will never break the bank when you are talking traditional archery....unless that's your goal Personally , I can and do teach everyone on a recurve because I can get them on the mark much quicker in this respect. The longbow may be easier to hit the mark for an instinctive shooter but for people that are starting out , I find that point of aim or some other similar style is easier on them and therefor I recommend the recurve. I have my own way of setting them up and my own suggestions as to how to shoot accurately with them but there are two others here who can offer just as good advise as I and there are more so into that side of the business than myself in all probability Watch for flatbow and flyingcedar to give you the best advise on this question

If you are wanting a comparison, elk4me should be able to advise you on that....he did a paper for one of his college classes not too long ago on that subject. If you are just starting out, I would recommend a recurve....they are usually easier for the beginnning trad archer to master. Being centershot really helps. It is tough to tell you what route to go, as it really depends on the person....I would lean towards trying a recurve at first though. Check out www.tradgang.com there is a classifieds section on there, with many, many bows for sale..bet you could find what you're looking for. There are also a few thousand people there with a wealth of various traditional archery knowledge that will help you with anything you need. I go by the same name on there. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here. No question is a stupid question, and you can't learn unless you ask.

Thanks for the information, it gives me a good place to start. I used to shoot my compound bare bow and had a blast, but never took the plunge and went traditional. Now I have the bug. Thanks.
