All right elk! It would have been fun to hear you give it!!! Hey BT - string the bow and hang it string up and riser down so that it is hanging by the string for a while. My old recurve that dad bought years ago has a twist in one limb. I was told to string it, hang, and that it would come back in line. I tried it, the bow shoots just fine now where as before the string would come off if you tried to shoot it. You can heat the limb and twist it, or just "bump" it at the time of stringing - but I've never found either of these to last very long, bumping the least. (Just giving the limb a big counter twist and hold it a minute.) Heating an old bow limb just plain scares me! I don't unstring the bow anymore, it probably lost a little draw weight, but it shoots just fine and I can see no twist on it anymore. But I always hang it by the string, two pegs out towards the limb nocks.

I never leave my bows strung for extended periods. I always use a stinger to avoid twisted limbs as well as injuries.

I would never suggest this to be proper care for a bow, but once the limb is twisted you are not out anything to give it a try... Don't expect it to work over night... This bow has been hanging a long time... Months! (To be honest, I don't recall when I started hanging it like this, I think it was last fall/early winter when a pal of mine suggested it... i55.photobucket.com/albums/g124/smjessup/P1010347.jpg[/img] Here's a close up of the brand on the bow... Anyone remember this brand? Hint: Think 60's or before!

Hmmm... For some reason the first picture didnt' post... Here it is again. (Also, this bow was bad enough to come unstrung when you attempted to shoot it, before hanging it like this. Now it seems fine!)
