In my humble opinion you have enough Penitration. It realy is not about how far the arrow pokes through the animal, or how far it is in the ground behind it. As long as you reach both lungs and it is still inside the cavity the working motion of the broad head while it runs will still bring it down quick. I saw proof of that from BT two years ago while I was down hunting with him.

My biggest fear is wounding a deer I'm sure I can hit the spot it is just not having done it yet that makes me worry about taking that first all important shot. With that worry I just might freeze up. Thing to do it take it and try not to worry. I know I can do it on targets.

Oldgun I know what you mean. Take a look back at my reports of hunting of mine from last year when I thought I had put an arrow in the guts of a deer. I was ready to quite. Turned out I hit the shoulder but the feeling I had when I wounded that deer was not nice. Then I was told when you bow hunt it is not if you wound a deer but when you hit and deer and can not recover it. I hope it never happens for you but practice and you will hit were you want to. also remember even the so called pros miss a shot from time to time. Just watch some of there hunting videos.

If you freeze up then you did for a good reason. When you are ready it will happen but you will never know until you try. I know how you feel to as I always second guess myself and grab the compound when heading out the door. From seeing that group I think you are ready to go sir. Either way good luck to ya!!

I have to ask....are you 4" through the front or through the back? If you are 4" through the back of the bucket, thats just fine If you are 4" into the bucket, thats a whole new line of questioning For instance.... 1:What is the broadhead width and length? 2:Is the broadhead ferrule base larger, smaller or the same size as the arrow shaft? 3:What is the arrow diameter? 4: was the bucket full of water?and so on... First of all....IMO....you shouldn't be freezing up on the stand because of equipment related worries If it is questionable, (IMO) you shouldn't be out there with it The first thing to do is be certain and then forget about it. If you can pass just the head through the bucket at 20 yards, you are gonna be fine on light bone or less. Stilllearning is correct in as much as the assertion that an arrow does not need to pass in order to kill effectively The most important thing is to ensure that the broadhead is scary sharp in the event that the head does not pass through. A head that is sharp like a scalpel can do far more damage staying within the chest cavity than by passing through it

This was a 3 blade snuffer, ferrule same size, bucket was full of water, one was 4 inches another 8 inches completely thro. both sides of the pail. I'm sure I won't freeze up in the stand really just had no idea of how much of a punch that I had, having never shot anything but targets as of yet. I'm sharp and READY!!!!!! can't wait for September. have 3 and onehalf months to do it....
