OK I'm a little confused with spine definitions.Beman has
500-400-340+300 with the 500 having the weakest spine.
Carbon express has 100-200-300+400 with 100 being the
weakest spine.
Gold tip has 600-500+300 with 600 being very weak.
So how do you find the actual spine number for your arrow.
As in .480-.500-.520 seeing that they don't always give
that info.
Now if I buy a Carbon Express maxima 250 what is the spine?
And is that at full lanth?What is it at 26.5?

Holy Crow!...so many great questions in one post!....I think I'm gonna faint! ;D
Each manufacturer has their own standard and you only have to look at the spine chart for each company to know which way those numbers track.
The 100CX is close enough to the same spine range as the 500 Beman while the GT is attempting (poorly IMO) to cover a very wide spine range with less shafts.
(This is just what CX did by eliminating the 400 and going to the 50 added on remaining shafts)
I dont know why I am cloudy on this but I am right now....but I believe the spine listed is calculated at 28" and the margin gains/lessens as you go away from 28".
While this is very important to know with aluminum, it almost never is the case with carbon which has a much better range.
The 250 @ 26.5 would be lower baseline for a very hot cam 60# bow and upper baseline for a mild cam 60#
You could use the 250 @ 55# on a moderate cam but I wouldn't ever consider it myself.
Here is how I see it....
150 series = 50# 500 series = 50# Forget GT @ 50# w/100gr.
This is baseline and tuning can/should be done with tip weight when going over or under the listed weight by 3# +/-

OK-Me again ;D.I just went out cold and shot 2, 26"Beman 500's and 3 Carbon express 250 Maximas 26.5 " at 30 yards! If I tried CX 100's or the Maxima 150's would I shoot better or just faster  .Not moving sights just going for groop.  |

Just faster with the 150's Either is tunable but if you were to simply throw 150's on (without) tuning, you would hit high and off center from where the 250's are now. If I were you...I would stay with the 250's by the looks of that group!  |
