Re-sight the bow to hit center at 20 and you will still be there at 27....or should be. The wear and tear is a matter of opinion. You are likely to have replaced the string in the same time frame so thats not really relevant. What you will see is that you have to pay attention to maintenance. You have to keep the string waxed properly....no slop allowed You have to keep an eye on the area that is impacting the string stopper and cam loops and reserve as needed. The bow will take it....longer than you will own it more than likely. It looks like I am right on the mark with getting things done. Like you said I am working toward getting it on at 20 yards. I will be watching very closely the maintenence and will get you to check it all when I am down this fall. Should I have a string sent to your place so when we are done shooting all the deer we can change it out or will it be good for a while? I have no fear of the bow at all and I think it may be in part to the scary things you were telling me about before I got it. Now it does not seem as bad as what I was expecting.

Yeah...it's no where near as crazy as it was when it hit 345 ;D If you want to do the string thats fine. I generally change a string twice a year. I dont think going a solid year is a good practice...even if you can get a little more out of it. Remember what happened to that string the first year you came down here?

OK after tonights shoot at the church I am really confused. I was shooting along and doing OK for have shoulders so sore that I could hardly lift and hold the bow steady. I wasn't hitting bullseye or anything but was respectable. I retrieve one set of the shoots and heard a weird noise on the pulling of the new speed pro arrows. This above arrow was the one that I hit the knock on last week and I am wondering if it was possible that it weekend the arrow?? Then the set of arrows I heard another noise when I pulled one of the arrows. I noticed a cracking sound when I would flex the arrow and then SNAP. Now I am wondering if this was the arrow that hit the knock last week or am I crushing the arrows with my arrow puller? Anyway I am not sure what is going on and I now have to get some more arrows fletched. I also hope to be shooting outdoors in the next week or two. I should be able to chrono the bow then.

Jeez! I dont like that at all This is why your supposed to check (bend) each arrow after each shot. That said...Personally....I would not be comfortable shooting those arrows going forward. It could have been cause by pulling the arrows in an abusive manner....bending as you pulled. Also could just be a poor run. Whatever the case may be....I myself would elect to go to a tougher make @ 6.5gr. (gain of 25gr.) rather than staying with that run/make. Better safe than sorry I'd reccomend the PSE Radial X Weave Predator Arrow Shafts @ $89. a dozen.

This is interesting. "Arrows speed pro quality: The Speed Pro arrow is not tough at all. "It seems to not have any back bone". The roundness of the arrow is supposedly very good, which for hunting this doesn't really matter. speed pro summary: The bottom line is... The arrow is to expensive. It is not durable enough to hunt with. It doesn't seem to maintain its Fast "string speed" over longer distances, which I believe effects arrow penetration, thus effecting "clean kill ability. I think I'll go back to my Gold Tips. " Taken from this website. www.hunting-fishing-gear.com/review-display/861.htmlI still want to try these out to 30 yards to see if I get the same result. Purchasing new arrows right now is not an option. But this is all very interesting. Problem solving 101 right here.

One more thing I need to mention was that the second arrow break broke like it did only after I heard cracking when I pulled the arrow and did just like BT suggest that everyone does. I flexed the arrow and heard cracking so I put extra pressure on it and the arrow snapped sending the middle piece across the floor of the gym.
I agree with BT that you should always check your carbon arrows after shooting them by just flexing them a bit up by your ear so you can hear any cracking. I also have found some problems with arrows while running my hands over the arrows to find any abnormal bumps on the arrow surface. Be careful using your hands though as you can and may get some carbon fibers into the skin like a splinter.

I read the full thread and the observations about the GT outperforming at longer distances is based on deception. The bow was out of tune (not flight tuned for the speedpro shaft) which caused the GT to fly higher (seemingly) These speedpro shafts that you have are certainly not expencive....compaired to the other shafts that carry a -.003 spec. When your ready to order a new dozen, look at 6.2 - 6.5gpi shafts. You will lose 5fps but wont have issues with impact breaks and it wont amount to anything in shot window height below 30 yards.
As I said...the PSE 100 would be a good deal at $89. a dozen.

Once I move out doors I will be shooting these arrows for the testing but probably will not use them for hunting. I did get a chance to weigh both arrows the speed pro weighed in at ..... And the easton st shaft weighed in at ..... Now they both have 85 grain field points but the easton shaft has the larger blazers on them and the shaft's overall grains per inch is a little higher. I think it will be a very interesting comparison for penetration on the pail out at 30 yards. With the bow set up to shoot the speed pro shafts right now I will have to try them first and then re-tune the bow for the easton shafts. But I have to figure out what is going on with the bow first. BT I am afraid I am lost on this one. I noticed tonight that when I was coming to full draw the bow felt like it was sticking or something. Maybe catching on something as I drew. I figure it out when I noticed the bus cables catching on the STS system. I am not sure how this has happened and am wondering were I should start looking for problems. The bow as I am drawing. At this point I noticed the bus cable rubbing on the side of the STS metal and rubber. At full draw. Notice the bus cable is behind the STS rubber. I let the bow down and then took the next serious of photos. notice the bus cable hooked on the STS rubber. I wish I had of got a picture of the cable slide to see if it has a bend in it or if it is one of the straight ones. I can't figure out were to start looking to see if something has loosened up and allowed the bus cable to slide back toward perfect center. I will look the bow over very careful for loose screws and then move on from there. I also want you to know that as soon as I figured out what was happening I stop all shooting of the bow until we figure this out. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated here BT. Help.
