I have a Spot-Hogg site with a light - It is not legal in the field, or for hunting of any kind here in CO, but I use it at the indoor range. The light screws off with ease. Helps me see my site pins big time indoors. (At night outside without other ambient light, I find the light is to bright to be of much use - I can't see beyond those bright pins. I just had to know!)

I use the Viper Predator Hunter sight and here in Conn its legal, it comes in handy, the light is great when its cloudy or overcast, not enough sun to light the pins so reach over and turn on the light and you would swear its a clear day the way those pins light up

I have used blue lights on pins when I am in blinds or in preserves during very late hours.
They are great to have but they probably tend to make you to comfortable in taking shots which you would normally not.
I have shot a couple silhouettes before which I probably shouldn't have in all honesty.
I scored great hits but I was shooting a silhouette and not a known area.

lights are illegal in WI for deer, but for turkey in a blind they rule....I use a spot hogg with 12in fiber extensions and a purple light Looking at the regs for 2005 on the DNR website, the only lights that are illegal for deer in WI are lasers, and lights used for shining. Pin lights it would seem are perfectly legal. that said, I use a purple light on my pins as well.

I made one for Spt Hogg Real Deal. IT's a copy of another design that encloses the entire light and focuses it entirely on the pins. I also extended my fibers to a good 6+ inches.
I used to go by the "if it's too dark to see your pins it's too dark to shoot" theory as well. But there have been times when my pins were too muted to shoot but the target was still plenty bright enough to see. Switching to a larger peep aperature (1/4") helped as well. Also I couldn't imagine not having a light when shooting froma blind.

That's a great point but in NY you cant even use one in a blind I honestly never even thought about that

I use the HHA 4200 optimizer crosshair sight with a blue burst light with the finger switch on it, it lights the crosshairs up real nice.

Sorry I missed this one The fact is that if you state laws specify no artificial light , it does not matter what color it is. I find it hard to believe any state would take the time and effort to specify color when stipulating light sources used for hunting.
