30 yrs ago I was using Pete Rickards doe scent and accidentally spilled half a bottle on a ridge 50 yds up wind from my stand. Then at the base of my stand I put two drops and also some skunk scent on a cotton pad. When this was in Nov. in Kansas and a front was in, barometer falling, and cold. Rut was on, and I heard alot of leaves moving like a heard of squirrels were running toward me, and low and behold a nine point buck, really nice, he went flying by my tree at ninety, but put on the skids and turned around and I was stand on a limb nine feet up and by the time he stopped I had released my arrow from my wheeled Ben Pearson compound, and it had a expandable viper tip, 125 grains, and the deer took off. I wait for about 20 minutes, but wanted to get to him before he got to river ( Missouri ) , seperating Kansas from Missouri, Northwest Mo. I recovered him and Pete Rickards did the trick. Plus I washed with Ivory Soap and until today when I saw a previous thread, had no ideal that the soap was a big factor in me hunting and staying scent free. I killed more deer 25 years ago that the last 25 years, big deer that is.

I gotta tell ya, for years I thought Apple Jollly Ranchers were some type of magical lure. I shot about 6 deer over three years while sucking on them damn things. Can't prove it was the candy that lured them in but the deer seemed to always appear shortly after putting one in my mouth. Coincidence? Who knows, but it hasn't worked in a few years now.
