Back from PA/OH

Well, I logged a total of 43 hours in the stand this week...saw lots of does and some small bucks, but no big boys. I returned without firing a shot. As you may know, I had 3 deer and a hog in the freezer from bow season down here, so I was looking for something pretty special. Warmest day was 28 and coldest was 18. I hunted both Ohio and PA. Some really good looking stand sites and perfect conditions... go figure, that's hunting. Still, always a lot of good fellowship with the family...always a fun, if not demanding, trip. I am the one in the middle of the pic.

Thats rough Red!...the lack of deer that is.
I'm a bit surprised to see those temps. that you sat out in which exceeded ours here in NY.
Pretty serious hours to be in a stand when considering the 18-28 degree's, so it wasn't for lack of trying

By the way....when (what hours) were you seeing the deer that did show themselves?

Hey BT... we hunt the mountains of PA, so we can always expect temps 8 to 12 degrees colder there than in town. A solid 2 feet of snow on the ground and it snowed the majority of the time I was there. Most deer sightings were between 8 and 8:30 in the morning.

It was cold up here too, Red. I know what it's like to sit in below 20 degree weather...and not see any deer on top of it.

It's good that you saw deer even though they weren't what you were looking for. At least you had some fun, and the freezer is full...

It is always nice to spend time with friends and family. Sorry you didn,t get a chance at the big one. I hope you had fun and have memories to share. Thanks for the update I was thinking about you just up north from me and was wondering how you did.

Its been a long time since I had a chance to hunt in the snow. So long its almost like a special treat! But hey you saw deer, had a chance to visit the family and you already have meat in the freezer so its all godd as they say. Thanks for sharing the pics and comments buddy .
