Just finished reading Howard Hill's hunting the hard way. great book. The man had more courage than I but then again he was a lot better shot!!!!!!!! It really was a good book.

Stalking and taking the ultimate hunter.......that takes some serious brass.
Wouldn't surprise me if that man didn't "clank" when he walked....hat's off to him(or his memory as the case probably is).

I wouldnt feel safe going with anything less than a .375..... And, just thought I would note, I have to call bs on the 500lb lioness. That's big for a male lion...

How could you tie an elephant to a tree? Must be a mighty big tree... And just who tied the elephant to that tree? I am thinking that might make much more interesting video than shooting an arrow at one...

You got a good point SMJ - never thought about that. It would be fun to watch a video of natives trapping elephant.

The tree was huge....twice the size of the elephant. In the video, Howard must have fired 40+ arrows and the elephant tries (seemingly) to charge/run but seems unable to do either. It's the weirdest thing you've ever seen when your watching it...until you hear that the elephant is tied Elephants are tame as well as wild and Howard was a big celebrity.....it could have been done as simply as making the request. I haven't watched it in years SMJ and if I still have it (I'll look), I'll be happy to send it to you so that you can see. The Alligator is another obvious set up shot in this movie.....dead as a duck before the shot
