I am in... Don't which bow I will be shooting yet. But I have a couple around here that I think just might work OK...

I haven't been missing the bag...but not by much. I'm starting to develop an anchor point, and I'm grouping two to three arrows out of four at 20 yds (sometimes).

The pic sounds good Red, count me in too, I won't be making the Elk hunt with smj this year, but I'm going deer hunting with friends in N. Carolina, leaving there and going deer/bear hunting with a friend at his place in West Virginia, then swinging over to Alabama to another friends for some serious hog hunting, then coming home for some deer/pheasant hunting, all with my Elk longbow..... sure wish I could go to Colorado though, maybe next year......

Great, SMJ & Voodoo....probably going to need some pep talks from you seasoned pros. Sure was discouraging this evening. I think I was concentrating on form too much (if that is possible). When I confidently draw my bow and just focus on the spot, I shoot considerably better. Spiker...sounds like you are really improving!

I hope to be in. I am confident out to 15 yards with the recurve. I may have to break out the long bow as I was solid out to 20 with that. But only time will tell. I definitely have a stand where 15 to 10 yard shots are generally plentiful provided I stay still.

Red, I so suuuck!! I'm tryng, but I can't guarantee that I'll be confident (or skilled enough), to attempt it this year. But I will make an attempt! Sept.27th starts the Northern season here...we'll see... Man, I sssoooo suck too! I thought I had it figured out last night. Tonight, I missed the bag so many times at 20 yards that I gave up. I'm going to have to get much better if I think I am going to harvest anything but tree trunks this Fall. Don't shoot at 20yds. stay at 10yds or less until you hit right where you want every time. Then move back just a step or so at a time as you perfect your shooting.

I was wanting to give the recurve a try this year but I just have not been home enough to practice. Might try for small game with it but doubt I will have enough confidence to go after anything bigger that a rabbit.

It is just difficult to move up to closer than hunting range...kind of feels like putting training wheels on. I need to be able to get killing shoots with regularity between 20 and 25....that is the most frequent distance from my hunting set-ups. I'll keep working at it.
