I say that you might need a bigger heating element...

Here it is, the standard old deep fryer. I have used it before, and had good results...now I'm thinking maybe a leak, or something blocking the element...it had a good blue flame...it just wouldn't go over 200...oh well I'm glad I put it in the oven bag, it was awesome!..

My neighbor just burnt his house down using a deep fryer. Not exactly sure what happened but the fire started because of the deep fryer.

I have failed.. Couldn't get 5 gallons of oil to go over 200 degrees. What a waste of money, and time. Got him on the oven, in the cooking bag. It will probably be way better this way anyway. That deep-frying a perfectly good turkey should be against the law It's nasty. My sister did a deep-fried turkey for Thanksgiving a couple years ago and it was hardly edible. A waste of good food IMO. I hope yours turned out good and you enjoyed it

Wow, I am sorry but i have to disagree!! I think just the opposite. I beleive that its the only way to go. I inject them and all. Give them about 40-45 minutes on 350 and they are just great. You will never have a dry piece of meat on them. But hey I wont turn down a turkey from the oven. *lol* HellI dont turn down much of any food. *lol*

I've done it before, and they were excellent, there has to be something wrong with the burner...it's just hard to imagine with the nice flame I was getting...oh well, what a waste of 50 dollars worth of oil....
