This is the first year Alabama has instituted a bag limit for the season on bucks. We get 3 total. Two can be any legal buck (antler above hairline) and one ofthe 3 has to be an 8 point or better. So I guess I just got my hard one out of the way!!! lol
Actually our lease is 6pt or better anyway so I have two left. In years past, our lease had capped it at 6 per hunter though the state said you could shoot one per day.
As for does, you can still shoot as many as you want, but no more than 2 per day or 1 per day if the second deer that day is a buck. For our lease, if we shoot a buck, we have to shoot a doe next technically though I don't think anyone follows that and during bow season, out of 31 of us, only 5 of us bowhunt and noone else goes out there during this time. IN fact, they shut down the entire lease for a few months leading up to opening day gun season and they designated about 800 acres "bow area" for us to run around "pre gun". Fortunately as we've seen, the bow area is also quite productive! lol I don't think they thought the area they gave us was going to be this good as it is probably the worst looking part of the 5000 acres and hardest to navigate. I bet they are regretting that one right now! lol

I'll get more pics hopefully as well. This weekend is still bow season, then gun opens the next weekend and runs all the way through 1/31. I'll probably hang up the bow until I am sure I have enough meat for the freezer and then I may go back to it later in the year. I know one thing, man, that was an awesome experience killing one with a bow and I really like hunting early before the gun guys get out bc I don't think I ever would've seen that many bucks in gun season together. Next time, I'll get more pictures, but I was just too pumped this time to think about it...

lol!....I can relate You get one down like that and you end up looking for lost equipment that you had in the woods at that time. I have left all kinds of clothing and equipment , lost forever between my stand and the big buck I shot ;D
