Copy/paste and click mms://216.12.165.82/Media/excalibur/elephant/elephant_high.wmv Pretty impressive actually in as much as the ability for the clean kill that was achieved.

It really depends on where it hits. I read a article by Chuck Adams. He tried to kill one with a compound. It was a heavy arrow out of a real high poundage bow(75-80#'s is his normal hunting bow). He shot it and got about 4 inches of penetration and his PH needed to finish it with a gun. After the fact he did tests on a section of ribcage. When he missed the ribs he sent the arrow clean through, when he hit them the arrow stopped dead. He decided that he didn't feel that is was really ethical to hunt elephants with a bow. It's up to chance....if you miss a rib you get a few thousand pounds of steaks in a hurry......if you hit a rib...your PH better be a good shot or you might be a pancake. I got to imagine the same goes with the crossbow.

Agreed. This is why I like Chuck Adam's The man is ethical

I noticed that they recommend the wasp broadhead with their bows.

I don't remember who it was/what his name was, but this guy had taken 3 elephants in his lifetime with bow. 2 of them were with one shot. He was using a compound bow with a 120lb draw weight(yikes!). He was the only white man known to have ever done such a thing.

He was the only white man known to have ever done such a thing. Fred bear got one with a recurve. I think howard hill got more then 1 with a longbow. Howard hill was probably pulling upwards of 130# for the elephant. He could pull bows @175. So someone has done it w/o a compound
