your 50 yards out and equipped with a 70# K.E. Bow shooting a fixed head. The Bull is hesitant and you believe that this is as close as you are going to get.

No shot ... you've seen a moose up close and personal right? I wuold want more than 70#'s KE to try and get in the front door like that.
However; I have never seen a jumpy moose or one that just turned and ran off. I would wait for a broadside shot as he turns to walk away.

After watching the video of that guy who shoots the Moose at like 15 yds, and gets attacked instantly with a head down charge.....no thanks...I'll stick with the 300 Win Mag for that one!

That video Spiker is on the rare side of moose. they are a big animal but if hunted right that 50lb bow will do it for you as well. I don't think the guy in the video took a good shot when he took that shot at that angle. broadside or quarting away as they will try to run when hit. Not face on.

What was the video shot like? How was the moose acting before the shot? They are big animals and seem impervious to pain - the blowdown I've seen 'em wade thru (and fences too) looks absolutely painfull. They jump over withe their front quarters and then just drag their hind quarters (and nuts) over. OUCH

Spiker I agree with you. Not a good idea to take that shot and then he was surprised to see the moose do that.

Spiker I agree with you. Not a good idea to take that shot and then he was surprised to see the moose do that. In another show, maybe same guy, a moose came in broadside but was concentrating on the caller and the shooter was behind a log if I remember right. It was within 5-8 yards and the hunter let it by then let down. If the moose is not centered on you, that works. I think his problem was that he was already drawn on a full rut moose answering a call but who came in straight and saw him. His options were to hold longer, let down (and probably get charged), or shoot (and probably get charged). I bet he ran out of gas and figured if he was going to get charged he should also try for the kill. It was a crazy scene though.
