Your kneeling/sitting on the ground in a natural blind. You are 20 yards away and there are ATV riders a 1/2 mile away headed in your direction from the valley below. They are headed in your direction and the deer isn't going to move until he is flat out running in the opposite direction. Whats the shot? (This is the shot of a lifetime....got the right broadhead? )

As tempting as that is, There is no good shot with a bow (at least for me). I would have to wait until he was broadside or quartering away (if given the opportunity).

FOR ME> 1 out of the question! He'd run into next year limping! 2&5 may give you a long chase. 4, 6 & 8 not a good vital trajectory...just a little to far right! 3 higher than I would like...above everything in an "air pocket". I voted 7 as the best route to take out both lungs and part of the liver. If he can't breathe, he can't get away and I have a short tracking job!

There is absolutely no shot on this deer. In my opinion, any shot taken would be unethical, and irresponsible. Wait the deer out, he isn't gonna be in that position for long.
As I've sais before, I would much rather no I chose to let this deer walk then to make a bad shot and not recover it.

This is a hard shot , there is no doubt about that but is it doable ? If not then what is not doable about it? I see lots of area's where you could hit vitals but could you hit the right ones and enough of them? Lets assume you could hit a 1" area at 20 yards in your current position. I think that this is reasonable to assume in a good situation. I had something in mind when I saw this picture and I am not saying yes or no right now although I do have my mind made up as to the answer.

IMO, a hit in the "1" would be possibility of a "deflection" off the scapula at that angle. I don't think I would chance that in case of not getting excellent penetration......of course that would depend on the BH being used too!

I'll tell you one thing....thats the only shot that would go straight through the stomach and should also take part of the liver if the head does not deflect.

I'm too cautious. I still would not take the shot. Not with a bow.

I'm too cautious. I still would not take the shot. Not with a bow. Just out of curiosity...where would the shot be if you had a gun?
