I am leaving for my "huntcation" next friday, and I am so excited I can hardly sleep!!! After taking a year off for personal reasons, which some of you know of, I am finally getting back into it. I was invited by a friend at work to camp and hunt for a week, from Oct. 27th to Nov. 2nd....I have never been able to get away on a hunt like this before, and I am pumped!!!! He has been hunting this area for 15 years, and has always gotten a deer....better yet, it is in our number one deer producing county here in Ohio. Hopefully I will be able to christen my Mikuta recurve and post some pics when i get back. My 125 Zwickey Eskimo's are mighty thirsty!!

Good luck. There is nothing like just spending a week in th woods with nothing to do but hunt and enjoy it. I try to get away for 1 trip a year because I can finally unwind. it seems like when I'm hunting at home, all sorts of other things work there way into my mind while I'm on stand. Good luck and remember the camera.

Well guys, I just got back from my hunting trip...empty handed....my fault though. I had my stand set up just shy of the top of this ridge....had a little four point that must have lived in the thicket at the top, I saw him come out of there about three different times. On tuesday he came out and quartered away (won't tell ya how far...too embarrassing!!!) and I put my arrow right under his chest. I swear the feathers must have brushed him it was so close. Problem was, I always seem to shoot a little low when I'm sittin down...not real sure why, and by the time I saw him, it was too late to stand up, and he never really gave me a chance after he came into view. He never really new what happened, took a couple of quick steps and went about his way..never presented another shot though. I saw him again last night, but he never came close enough. Saw a lot more deer, but they were all in the distance. It was a really exciting and relxing week all in one. This was my first time seriously hunting public land, and let me tell ya, there are more than enough deer for everyone in this place!!!!! I gotta go back next year, but I think I will push it back a week. The rut is just starting to come in here. I only saw one buck after a doe all week. Oh well, thats my story......and fun times were had by all...The End

Thats tough But it's also good The bottom line should always be the enjoyment you derive from the time you kill while hunting and not what you kill (Although a kill is hard to beat when added to such a good time ) You need too have a second anchor for sitting I think I am still working on my own perfect all around anchor and it seems to evade me somehow

It is tough to come home without anything to put in the freezer! I have had that same issue this year... Still, to be able to get out and play the game - it is hard to ask for more when I look at how busy and just plain stupid life can be some times.
