He killed a six point buck one time with his pocket knife. he was down wind of this buck that he saw bedded on a side hill. He thinks the deer was sleeping. The buck laid against a tree the size of baseball bat. He grabbed the antlers and pulled them backward so that each side of the rack was on opposing side of the tree. He said the buck hardly struggled as he had the head pinned to the ground and the tree. He cut the bucks throat with his knife. It turns out that the buck had its front foot caught in an exposed tree root and could not get up.

But wait! My grandfather (years ago...many years ago) caught 2 deer with his bare hands first one was during a very hard winter and he ran it down in a field that had a couple of feet of powdered snow. Many of the old guys told me about that when I was a kid because a few of the guys that he was hunting with were there when he did it. It was a lamb so no super hero stuff there. The second one turned out a little worse He used to Box and was always running. One day while running he saw a big Doe standing right on the side of the road...waiting for him to pass. as he did he threw himself on her and took her to the ground. But in the struggle she got one of her rear legs between him and his pants and tore him from belt line to ankle. He showed me from the calf down but I never got to see the rest My grandmother said it looks like a deep ditch right beside the original

A buddy of my grandfather, after the war, didn't bow hunt but needed to get meat to make it through the winter. He was afraid of getting caught by fireing off a gun. He sat in a lone apple tree and when a deer came in and stood up on his hind legs to eat, he drove a double bitted ax through her forehead. Talk about patience...............just crazy.
