Picture this: The crisp November wind rustles the leaves above you. The Humble Doe and her yearling Fawn slowly pass beneath you. Oh HOW Cute! ... Now what ?

If it's November the skipper is fine on it's own. Mommy can reside in my freezer for the rest of her time on this earth. Although............look at my handle.....I think I have grown out of that stage, but you just never know.

Honestly, It depends on my mood, and if I have venison in the freezer yet. Nothing wrong with taking either of them.

Momma tastes great and the fawn is less filling!! ;D Seriously though, depends on a lot of things and to give answer without more details would be irresponsible.

I do pass many does a year. especially around the rut. It depends for me too, but i don't have any problem with shooting either.

if its in the first week or so of bow season,im taking mommy an letting the youngin run amuck for a year or two. if its in the rut or somewhere there abouts,im letting them mill about in hopes a buck will csmell them an come for a look.after the rut an toward late season, ima taking the ole gal an leavin the lil one for another season. The only time i will take a doe in the rut is if i can tell for certain if the fawn is a buck, then ima wackin the perty gal! especially if she has twin button bucks, she is definitely hitting the grill that nite! this provides better odds that the buck fawns will remain on the property i hunt.

Sounds about right for me huntinglover!! Except for a few other things. How des the doe look? Healthy and youjng or old and about done with birthing. Is the fawn reliant on the doe? Is there an abundance of does on the property? There are a ton of things that go into the decision and yours and these are just some of them. With my setup atr ground level, I may just take both of them with one shot depending on the scenario!!
