OK after reading bambeklr's post about getting shot at and hit by the way. I got thinking of my hunting experience and I do remember 2 separate hunts. One a buddy of mine (we were young then)....... Now that I think of it make it 3 incidents. My buddy and I got into some partridge when before we could hunt deer and he fired at a couple of them with a pump action shotgun. He thought he had emptied the gun and instead of pushing the button to release the action he pulled the trigger. I felt the breeze on my leg but was not hit by the blast. Scared the wits out of me and the same gun on another trip blew up on him and he thought he was shot. When the gun went off it was not totally closed so the action flew back and broke a piece of the stock off that hit him in the chest. He thought it was the pellets hitting him. When he looked down he could see blood on his hand. that turned out to be the back end of the firing pin that stuck in his hand and needed stitches to close up. The last incident I had was I hear a shot fired and then way over my head in the trees I hear a whistling sound of the bullet from a 22 going over. About 3 in all. My uncle was shooting at a porcupine up in a tree. What about you have you been shot at and as far as that is concerned have you been hit by shot?

Yup. Once was back home when I was around 13 and I had three rounds from a high powered rifle fired at me while crossing a field. One shot was very close....maybe a few yards away. Second time was when I was 15 and the brother of a sister decided he would rather see me dead than with his sister ;D Didn't get hit that time either Oh...I forgot .... I had one of the local idiots from my home town try and blow me away with a 303 British because I bluffed that I was going to shoot his cat. (just a joke because I like cats....he didn't know that though) He pulled up at near point blank range and fired at my head. I blacked out and woke up with my hair singed , deaf with a continuous pulsing ring in my ear , near blind in my right eye. He was gone ;D Poor guy....I mean to say that he was truly retarded and my family never pursued it past telling me I should have been smarter than to have messed with him when he had a gun ;D Next time was in Florida when I was around 25 when a crack dealer decided to try out his .25 on the cracker. Three of those bullets were so close the snap caused my ears to ring. Luckily I was maybe 40 yards out and he was wasted I assume. Last time , I was a few years older. A guy in Maryland tried to car jack me when I stopped to offer a ride. The .45 went off by accident and blew a hole through my floor. In the last 15 years things have been pretty quite

I, unlike the rest of my family , was never in the military like Ster (especially getting shot at). I did however go hog hunting with a guy I talked with over the phone but never met. 2000 miles later I'm in his neck of the woods so he takes me around his property. We're on foot checking out the brush for hogs when we spot a smaller hog that squels and runs off to my right. He's toteing a mid-size rifle, I've got my bow and he's "guiding" for me. I circle back and around to the right to try and head off the critter. 100-150 yards away from point A after a 300 yard circle sprint I'm standing watching a clearing and a trail when I see 10' in front of me a blade of grass (tall grass in TX) inexplicably just fall over - followed almost instantly by semi-auto rifle fire. I heard #2 and 3 zign past but I was jumping for cover behind a big ol tree. The weird part was seeing the grass fall over before I heard the shot. He claimed he was charged by the pig and hit it (we never found piggy).

Wow all these storys are just crazy. Bt it I would say that sounds like you had a streak of bad lick in your younger years but that cant be right because if it was bad luck you wouldnt be here with us today.
saturday wasnt the first time I have been shot but none of them are plesant. When i was 13 years old I was dove hunting a sunflower field and spotted a dove flying eye level going through the field. I yelled "LOW BIRD" as I was taught growing up. As I followed the dove I see a white puff and as I turned my head I feel the burning of hot 7 1/2 low brass. I was hit in the right cheek 3 times and 6 times in the chest and mid section. I wasnt as lucky that time around. I had to pop the pellets out like a pimple. I will never forget the burning I felt. It made me fall to my knees. I also remember my father grabbing his gun and chasing the guy through the field. The other guys had to tackle my dad. He did come to me first to see if i was ok but when he saw blood he freaked.
I also was grazed by a .22 bullet in my yard when i was a kid. My buddy thaught it was unloaded.
The last time before last saturday was a few years ago while blackpowder hunting. I was waiting at the truck when my buddy walked up and as we were discussing what we had seen his hawkens rifle went off hitting the centercap and the hub to his 4 wheel drive. The 370 grain maxi ball deflected into the ground missing my knee by maybe and inch. I almost wet myself when I saw all of that smoke.

Lot's of crazy stories here....wow...I must live a sheltered life... Thank god for my dad, and his safety training. I believe he had even thrown some relatives out of deer camp when I was young, just because they had left a gun loaded in the house, or shot at tails in the woods. Luckily, I've never been shot at by strangers either...thank god none of you were hurt!!

hmm............ never been shot at while hunting, or had accidents happen while out in the field. but, when I was 10 ,The neighbor girl (linda P. ) ( hateful little witch) shot me straight in the face with a bb gun from 6 feet away and it hit me directly in the center of my bottom lip. It broke my two center teeth off and lodged in my lip. she had pumped it a bunch of times I still have a lump there , man that ticks me off when I think about the fact that she never even got her butt whooped for that one.

I thought about the various bb gun shots inflicted - but decided that really didn't count (maybe I should rethink!!!) 6' in the face ouch - what did you do to deserve that me wonders?
