okay folks. I've heard a lot of stuff about how good the savage pendulums are. One question I have is has anybody put one of the trophy ridge mantis pendulum's through the paces? If so, how do they hold up? Are the durable? Would you recommend it or not? Thanks in advance.

The Myles Keller is the only one I can speak to but keep the faith...someone will come by this I hope.

Had one for 2 years, Very noisy and you can never find it--it's in the head itself, i totally dissasembled it and still could not find it. As far as accuracy--umm---you are supposed to sight in on the ground @ 20 yds and when your in a tree it's supposed to be good out to 30yds as long as your under 20' but i found it to be 6" low, not worth the 129$ price tag. I will never go back to pend. sights, if you keep your stands and roughly the same height and practice from the tree you dont need them. It's nice having 1 pin but you have to range the deer than adjust your V-drive if thats the mod you are looking at which to me is another thing to forget or screw up. If your only shooting 30yds and under i have heard good things about the savage which is half the price or the mantis. But remember if your a noise freak pend. make alot more than fixed sights.

Not for nothing....I have never had a difference on impact height on any bow that was shooting over 270 fps.
Probably would apply down toward 240fps but I don't know that for sure.
The traditional stuff , yes....not the modern side.

I'm currently shooting a Reflex Grizzly @ 260 fps. Would that make a difference?

Guys, at the speed you're shooting it MIGHT not make a diffy....BUT...my Xi is pretty darn fast. After a TON of searching, I found that the Truglo seems (to me anyway) as the best bang for the buck. And it is NOT noisy. Spend the extra few dollars and get the Tritium pin. I can also offer you, for just a few dollars(see the 4 sale section on this site) a method to shoot multiple yardages with a single vertical pin, and extend your range from the tree about 35-37.5 % on average, eliminating "holdover guesstimates" both on the ground & in the tree. Seriously, spend the time and get the Truglo...you won't be sorry, whether you get my Upgrade for Pendulums or not....

I used to have to hold differently between the tree and the ground, that was until I properly tuned my bow. After flight tuning I have seen much less of a difference in point of impact. I find that maintaining form is very important and will help you shoot better from an elevated stand. Right now I get less than an inch of difference in impact between the tree and the ground. Another thing is that many people use range finders. with these you have to range a tree that is level with you, not the base of the tree for an accurate yardage. Ive ranged a trail before from my stand and it read 23yds, shooting a tree along the trail at my height, the reading was 18yds. not much of a difference but a little. Pendulum sights are good but they don't work well in un-even terrain, from different height trees and at long ranges. The areas I hunt have steep hiils and ridges so I may be shooting at 10yds and upward, down or level, I may be shooting 50yds and up, down or level. Some of my stands may be 15' high or 35' high. I tried using a pendulum and found that a multi pin sight was much better. Right now I am sighted in at 28,38,48 and 58 yds. when a deer is 30yds or less I just hold dead on with my first pin and hit with in 3" where I want to hit if I forget to compensate a bit.

Agreed with Skip, But i am sure Skip is shooting much faster than our 260, so if it makes a small diff. for him and for me @ 260 with the mantis it made 4-6" of diff. I found too as Skip said about uneven terrain that it matters. If you have any stands on hills you might wanna try it out first. I don't see any pro's on tv using them either, me myself i did not like em so i switched.
