I was wondering how many people actually check for contact with their fletching on the riser , rest, etc.. I'm a firm believer in spray on foot powder ...on the fletch, and on the riser to find out if any contact is being made. Just wondering what other methods people are using.

With feathers , if you have contact you'll know it in short order Foot powder is a pretty good method though. With the drop away rests you'd think that you wouldn't have to worry about it but thats not true at all.

Let's see, chalk dust, spray on foot powder that clings, flour, with vanes I make a bright colored combo and then shoot a bunch and check for a bit of color on the mechanism - if you are hitting it will be there.

Exactly right...(to the drop away theory), I bet that a lot more people are getting fletch /rest contact than know it. I try to get the most shaft/rest contact that can be maintained without the fletch contacting the prongs. Right now I am battling the high profile of the Blazer vanes with the Vulcan's riser, and Ripcord rest combo.... I think that I might have to give those 3" Duravanes a shot, as the Blazer's are making life difficult!

Spiker - you might try moving rest and nock-point up if your hitting the shelf. I like lipstick myself - easier to apply than foot powder.

Wow - that's a lot of lipstick! ;D ;D I always kinda assumed that if I got contact it would be on the outside edges of the fletch first Your arrow lools like it just went thru a deer! That's ok - it worked.

Royden..good heads up on the nock/rest advice..AS WELL AS THE LIPSTICK...cured all problems!..Here's a pic of my "contact" setup. Lipstick on the whole back of the arrow..fletch, and shaft, and spray-on foot powder on the riser. I put Biege colored moleskin on the rest prongs, and containment arm. There's no way for anything to touch without leaving a trace. Spike I know what your going thru , Royden and me went thru the same thing on my Rytera Triad that is just like the same riser design as your Vulcan. I got my Fp and Bh(Turbos) flying perfect. I also use the lipstick and Arasol Foot powder . I can waite for hunting season to get here now only 26 days away!
