Thanks guys for all the great posts!!!!!! I believe that I am shooting 265 at the crono. my draw is 28.5. I think I have been swayed back to the silver flames. I have a lot of time to practice and I think that I will be happy with the two blade. I am going to shoot that big bear through the lungs anywise, and watch him die! Thanks again. J

Yes , I saw that Generally speaking , as you move away from 400 grains , you start to lose close range performance and gain/loose momentum & K.E. Dependant upon the bows efficiency. That why I was using the 400 grain example. Please expand on this. I believe that there is a perfect ballance of speed/ke/momentum. I don't want to go to light because I am a firm believer in momentum. I would like to understand what you are saying. Thanks, J

I guess i am a bit old fashioned, but I use the G5 from monotech matched with a heavy FMJ from easton. Taken several nice brownies with this setup. We are allowed 1 each year for residents of the Copper River Delta, so i get lots of practice with that setup coming out of my carbon matrix.

I don't know how old fashioned you are but I would love to hear your elaborations on the subject!. Great first post and welcome to the site Many times I (as others) have to use the imagination when thinking through such circumstances that we have not yet encountered and in doing so we may look to the theory we best understand, based on the experiences that we have had. My thinking is that I am looking at a potentially large animal and I want the maximum penetration potential in bone and well as the best edge retention to promote bleeding... really fat bleeding! ;D The Montec will no doubt blow a barn door out the backside of anything it hits (provided the momentum is there) so I know it will do the job at hand. This head passed the tests that it was put to here... so I have no opinion on it's effectiveness with Brown bear beyond that. I am very eager to hear more in all honesty. By the way.... My wife and I considered Alaska a lot when we decided to move away. What a place for a hunter!, Residents have all the fun! ;D
